Blogging - Is it for me?

I read a lot of blogs. Well, maybe "a lot" is a relative term. I read the blogs of friends in Spain, Poland, Bolivia and in the States. I don't usually read blogs of people I don't know unless one of my friends refers me to something in particular.

I've noticed something. I don't "blog" like most folks. Perhaps I haven't really figured this out yet. Or perhaps I am uncomfortable sharing some of the personal things that some folks share (it seems like such a public place to put your thoughts in print) or maybe I think my life is too boring to blog about everyday stuff. I don't know. I guess I'm still trying to figure it out.

If you have any comments or suggestions, I would love to hear them. If you're not comfortable posting a comment in such a public place, then send me an email.

(By the way, the photo has nothing to do with this blog, I know, but I just thought I'd stick something in to make it a little more interesting. It's one of the fountains at LaGranja.)

I think you need to keep the blogging up! Just share more of yourself with those of us who really want to listen and pray for you! Sharing weakness is a strength! I am learning that one! Sharing the great things makes my day! I share as much as I do becuase I get so few emails from people back home. You know, out of sight, out of mind. Sometimes I think that I am completely forgotten about back home. Am I still prayed for? I KNOW I am when people comment on my blog. When I don't blog after a while, I can tell people have stopped looking. Keep it up! Let people rejoice with you and share your sorrows! Do more than just monthly updates and book reviews! BYI I love your book reviews! :)

Your life is interesting! Believe me, your words have inspired me and encouraged me on days I have needed it!!

First, I think your blog can be whatever you want it to be. One of the girls on my "friends list" on LiveJournal uses her blog as a "what I did today" list -- every day! It's pretty funny, actually. She literally says things like:
got up at 6
ate ____ for breakfast
went to school

It cracks me up. But that's what she likes to use it for. Others write every angst- and emotion-filled thought in their head, with no thought whatsoever that complete strangers can read it (or maybe *because* complete strangers can read it, who knows?).

One of the things I like about LiveJournal as a blogging site is that you can lock or filter your entries to only those you want to read them. Of course, if people don't have an LJ account and you lock a post, they can't read it, but. . . I've always been surprised at what some of our mutual friends write on their blogs -- full names, dates, ranks and serial numbers! I'm not comfortable doing that.

I'm somewhere in the middle of sharing my deepest, darkest secrets, and sharing a lot of fluff. Actually, I blog about a lot more fluff than anything else. But it does give me a snapshot of my life, which is really what I was looking for in an online journal, I think.

Write what you want and when you want. We'll keep reading :)

P.S. I meant to say that I liked the photo -- I thought it was really pretty!

Dearest Pat,

I love your blog. I go wish that you would write a little more, but I totally understand that you're busy. It is difficult to write things down when your transitioning and alone. Sometimes you'll feel better getting it down in writing. I know that I enjoy praying for you and getting to know you better through your blog. Know that those of us who care about you and love are here.

Love, Julie Luebcke
