Spanish Pride

As you are probably aware, Spain has won two major sporting events this summer - first the World Cup on July 11 and then the Tour de France on July 25. Spanish flags continue to fly from many balconies, TV antennas, cars, and a myriad of other spots. A lot of folks have added decals on the outside of their cars or decorative items hanging from the rearview mirror, you can buy t-shirts everywhere and even soccer balls in Spain's colors. It seems to me like there are a lot more serious cyclists on the streets. There is a lot of excitement here and I imagine it will last quite awhile.

Springtime in Camarma

I know, springtime was a long time ago. I meant to post this photo in May and forgot! It's not even my photo. A teacher at our school took it when she was riding her bike in the hills nearby. But I wanted to share it with you anyway. The red in the background are our poppies that grow wild in the spring. Because we had such a wet winter & spring, they were profuse this year along with the lavender that also grows wild. They last about 6-8 weeks and then they're gone, but we enjoy them while they're here.
