I'm so thankful I was able to spend Christmas in the States with my son and daughter. I arrived two weeks early as I had some dental work that had to be done (a new crown to repair a chipped tooth). I was able to spend some one-on-one time with several friends before, and after, our trip to Montana for our actual Christmas celebration. Every two years we travel to my sister-in-law's home in southwest Montana and we spend the holiday with most of my husband's immediate family. My other sister-in-law and her family also came this year. There were 38 of us staying in the same house for several days. It was quite the adventure! The children ranged in age from 18 years to 8 months. Needless to say, there was not much "peace and quiet." But it's always fun to get together and catch up a little and see how much the kids have grown. And Jen & Dave really enjoy getting to spend time with their cousins.
There was a trip to the local hot springs and part of the group went skiing/snowboarding one day. There's the annual visit to town to have lunch at Doe Brothers and visit the candy store. There's always a lot of snow and the younger ones have fun sledding down the hill behind the house. We all take turns providing dinner for the whole group. Dave made his "famous" chicken enchiladas and Jen made some delicious rice and beans to accompany it.
I'm back in Spain now and we just finished our first week of school. It was a bit hectic without some of our key administrative staff (our Principal is on home assignment, the Headmaster had to fly back to the States because his father is dying and our Business Manager got stranded in the States by a snowstorm). Fortunately, we have a great staff at ECA and everyone was very helpful and understanding. This week is a short week (we have Friday off) and we hope our Headmaster is able to return next week.
Hope your new year is off a good start and that this year brings an abundance of God's rich blessings to you and yours.
