Track & Field Day

Last Friday was our annual Track & Field Day. We go to a sports complex in a nearby town and have olympic-style events. The whole school participates. The staff and parents help with timing, judging, providing snacks, and such. Here are some photos -

We started the day with prayer.

Our illustrious timers.

It's always a very fun day and everyone seems to enjoy it. The weather was perfect this year and it was a beautiful day.

Praying for the Nations

The theme at church this morning was Prayer. And that reminded me that I've been wanting to share Operation World's 60-day Prayer Experience. Kathy Haley told me about this when I was visiting them a few weeks ago. You can sign up for daily emails and there is a video each day with photos from the featured country and a prayer (sometimes in the language of the country with English subtitles). Here's the link if you're interested in checking it out. http://www.operationworld.org/join-prayer-movement. You can start the 60 days any time.

I'll try to insert the video for Spain here -

ECA Science Fair

About three weeks ago, we woke up to snow! And on the morning of Science Fair day. We called for a "late-start" day and went ahead with the plans for the day.

This is how our school grounds looked at 9:00 a.m. (although by the end of the day, all the snow was gone).

We had planned to grill burgers & hot dogs for everyone. We moved the grill to the covered patio and the serving tables inside.

Some of the Middle School and High School displays in the Auditorium.

The elementary displays were put up in the library.

Visiting the Haleys

A few weeks ago, we had a long weekend at school and I decided to take Biscuit and drive back to visit Jon & Kathy and friends from the church there. Jon was preaching that Sunday, so while he was busy working on his sermon on Saturday, Kathy and I drove into Barcelona to see a place I had never visited while I lived there - Tibidabo (from the Latin, meaning "I shall give you"), a reference to the Temptation of Christ when Satan took him to the top of a hill and offered him the world spread at his feet. (It is situated on a hill overlooking the town of Barcelona.)

Church of the Sacred Heart, built in 1902-1911.

Believe it or not, they built a small amusement park around the church.

Looking the other direction, you can see the road up the hill and part of the roller-coaster track.

The stairs we climbed up to the upper level (after taking the elevator to the second level).

Christ overlooks the city of Barcelona.

Although cloudy and rainy when we arrived, the skies cleared before we left.

Nacho, Kathy and Jon on their back balcony. They have a great view.

ECA Spirit Week

This past week was Spirit Week at ECA. What that means is that the students (and the staff) dress up according to a different theme every day. Here are some photos from the week.

The first two photos are from Princesses & Aliens Day.

The next day was "Be What You're Not" Day --

Mr. C never dresses this way. Most of the time he's in a shirt & tie and nice slacks. This was definitely what "he's not".

The next several photos are from "Denture Day". The students were to dress like their parents or grandparents. Some of the staff chose to go in the other direction.

It was a fun week and almost everyone participated to one degree or another.
