My Morning Walks
I know that I promised to post some inside shots of my house, but I'm not quite finished getting rid of boxes and making the extra beds and such. I'll do it soon. But...I thought I would show you some photos of things I see on my morning walk. (I began my walk at dawn so some of the pictures are a little on the dark side. I could have "Photoshop'd" them but I kind of like them the way they are.)
My street is one block away from the highway that runs through part of the town, separating my house from the section where the school is. There's not a lot of traffic but quite a few folks use this road on their daily commute.
This is the main square in town. You can see the old city hall in the background (the white
building) and the church tower behind it.
This is the Church of St. Peter. The sign says it's an historical restoration.
An old cart filled with flowers. An attempt to beautify some open space.
There's a nice walkway at one end of town that runs from one edge of town to the other. I can take it in either direction.
And back to my street. That's my car out in front. The landlord (who lives upstairs) puts his in the garage.

My New Home
Some of you may have already seen this picture, but for those of you who haven't, I thought I would show you a photo of my new home in Camarma (Madrid). As soon as all the boxes are unpacked and I have my paintings/photos on the walls, I'll take some inside pictures and post them here or in my online photo album. The unpacking is going well. Most of the rooms are "finished" and I'm waiting for some friends to help move a couple pieces of furniture and the "office" and entryway will be done.I start my new "job" next Monday. I was in the office today to pick up my keys and get a few instructions about entering the building, i.e. how to turn off the alarm. I met a new co-worker and talked with my "boss" for a few minutes. I'm excited to get started and am looking forward to what God has in store for all of us this coming school year.

One last road trip
My daughter and I took a short road trip through Kansas and Missouri. We stopped in Wichita to see some friends...

and then spent a couple of days in Missouri visiting my husband's sister and her family...
I also was able to spend a day with a friend that I hadn't seen in over 35 years! We had a good time but I came back realizing that I only had three weeks before I left for Spain. So now I'm packing, unpacking, making decisions about what I can take and what I have to leave behind and doing more packing. :)

My daughter's home!

Jen is back from Mongolia for the summer and it's been great to be able to spend some time with her. After waiting in the wrong place at the airport, we finally connected. We then went over to friends for dinner and enjoyed hearing about her travel experiences and first impressions of being back home. She's going to post her comments on her own blog (see the link to the right for Mare's Milk Daily), so I won't say more. Other than, "We're glad you're back, Jen!"
